We've all had those experiences where we can't find the words to describe what we think or how we feel. We often find ourselves feeling a little upset that we don't have the means to express ourselves. At Camp, this kind of thing happens often. And what I've noticed is a verbal revolution among certain staff who have taken it upon his or herself to makeup new words as a means of describing camp activities. I'd be lying if I didn't say this kind of innovation and creativity isn't encouraged at Camp.
It's a wonderful thing, really, being able to be so silly without having to deal with the judgement of others. Camp is the ultimate safe zone and breeding ground for spiritual growth, developing work ethic, increasing creativity and nurturing relationships with fellow Orthodox Christians. What's incredible about Camp is the fact that so much happens over the course of time spent at Camp, that one often looses track of time at Camp. Arrival at Camp happens, and then departure from camp. And everything in between in just a blur. But we know good things happened because we now have an arsenal of creative jokes, we now have a deeper relationship with Christ, we have a sense of what it means to work hard, and we tend to have deeper relationships with our friends.
So even though we can't effectively put our experiences at Camp into words, one thing is for sure: Camp Nazareth is pretty cool!
