Laughter

Something that differentiates camp from everywhere else is the fact that laughter seems to be a constant. Sometimes we laugh over incredibly well-timed jokes, other times we laugh at a situation, and other times we laugh for no reason at all. Naturally, there are a lot of inside jokes at camp that make for interesting days and events. And while there are a lot of things that happen to make us laugh, there's a much deeper reason for the joy we experience. It should go without saying, God is our source of joy! And because our focus is on Him, life is much better; life is better because life becomes blessed.

While walking around camp yesterday, I often checked in on the counseling staff to see how training was going. While a large amount of the training is dedicated to sitting and talking, there was also a large amount of movement and laughter. It struck me late in the day how much fun camp is, especially for training. Lets face it, part of the staff training involves playing games, testing the ropes course, and experimenting with fun activities. Literally, there's no reason to do anything but smile and laugh. Besides, we all know how vital smiling and laughter is.

If you're reading this, I want you to reflect on your experiences of camp and really consider the impact camp has made on your life. Through camp, you and I (though we may have never met), have laughed together, have cried together, and have prayed together. Over the years, countless lives have been touched in a multitude of ways. So take a moment to reflect on a memorable moment at camp that made you smile and keep it close to your heart!

Again, we thank you for your support of this blog and hope it brings back many memories for you!

As always, we ask that you keep the CN staff in your thoughts and prayers as we prepare for our diocesan campers!
